Baldwin Boats was commissioned by SA Water to design and construct a new fleet of 5-metre aluminium workboats for the River Murray Operations Unit, replacing an aging fleet and addressing key work health and safety (WHS) concerns.
Each vessel was purpose-built for the unique conditions of the River Murray, featuring:
- A front access ramp for safe and efficient loading of small implements such as pressure washers.
- Dual side doors to assist with buoy line maintenance and on-water servicing around locks and weirs.
- Improved visibility and handling for enhanced operator safety.
- Adaptability for various operational duties including water quality monitoring, salinity testing, and crew transport during high-water or restricted-access events.
These modern aluminium workboats reflect Baldwin Boats’ commitment to quality, safety, and functionality; supporting essential waterway operations throughout South Australia.
We’re proud to currently be constructing vessels #7 and #8 in this ongoing project, continuing our partnership with SA Water and their River Murray Operations team.
